Alix Winter is the Chief Data Scientist for the Racial Profiling and Biased Policing Investigations Unit at New York City's Civilian Complaint Review Board. She is also an Adjunct Associate Research Scholar at Columbia University's Interdisciplinary Center for Innovative Theory and Empirics, where she was previously a Postdoctoral Research Scholar. Alix studies how social inequalities are reproduced within and travel between domains. Prior and ongoing projects examine these processes in relation to health and the criminal legal system.

Alix's work has been published in Annual Review of Sociology, Criminology, American Journal of Public Health, and other academic journals. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy from Harvard University, where she was a fellow in the Harvard Kennedy School’s Multidisciplinary Program in Inequality and Social Policy, and her B.A. in Health and Societies from the University of Pennsylvania.
